I have more box sets of The Beatles than any other artist. And it’s not because I’m some sort of Fab Four fanatic — it’s just what happens when you review music for a couple of decades. I have the mono vinyl box. The stereo vinyl box. The mono CD box. The stereo CD box. I have a box set with the British versions of their albums. A box with the American versions. Box sets of individual albums. DVD box sets of A Hard Day’s Night, Help! and Magical Mystery Tour. Plus a few more that I can’t think of right off the top of my head. And assuming the fine folks at Universal see fit to send me one, I might soon add the new Singles Collection box to the pile. The limited-edition set (due just in time for your holiday shopping, natch) collects 7″ vinyl versions of all the band’s 22 U.K. singles (plus the new Free As A Bird / Real Love), all newly remastered, pressed on 180-gram vinyl, housed in faithfully reproduced picture sleeves and accompanied by a 40-page booklet. And hey, it only costs $275. Not interested? No sweat. As always, there were also plenty of other new releases announced in the last day or so. Scroll down to see the whole list, and don’t forget to bookmark the Upcoming Releases page to keep track of the entire list. And hey, if you’re ever in the market for some barely used Beatles boxes, you know where to find me.
