Late-Night TV Music (Why Ask Why? Edition) | Aug. 13, 2019

Flight suits? Harpists? Confetti? Some questions in life are best left unasked.

One thing I’ve learned over the years: Sometimes it’s better not to ask. That lesson comes in handy all the time. Even with Late-Night TV Music appearances. For instance: I’m not going to ask why Daniel Caesar donned a flight suit (complete with helmet) to perform his toxic-relationship single Cyanide on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Nor am I going to ask why Goo Goo Dolls broke out the confetti for their Beatlesque, gospel-tinged single Miracle Pill on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. And I’m certainly not going to ask why Rick Ross needed a small army of supporting players — including Swizz Beatz, The Roots, Just Blaze, a string section, some horns and even a damn harpist — just to get through his single Big Tyme on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Hell, I’m not even going to ask why his song is spelled with a Y. I’ve got bigger fish to fry. I suspect you do too. So let’s just watch, enjoy and get on with our day. Why? Why not?
