Late-Night TV Music (Getting Warmer Edition) | July 22, 2019

When it comes to Monday's lineup, let's just say that four out five ain't bad.

So close and yet so far. For the first time in weeks, all five of the major talk-show hosts were back on the job Monday — but since The Late Show With Stephen Colbert closed with a comedian, we’re still waiting to see a full slate of late-night musical performers. Even so, the acts who were around held up their ends of the bargain. Supergroup Red Hearse — featuring singer Sam Dew, multi-talented multi-tasker Jack Antonoff and producer Sounwave — tabled their single Half Love for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The 1975 took over the desk for their performance of I Like America & America Likes Me on The Late Late Show With James Corden. Country-popster Kane Brown celebrated Short Skirt Weather on Late Night With Seth Meyers. And MVP bassist-turned-bandleader Tal Wilkenfeld unveiled two songs from her album Love RemainsKilling Me and Corner Painter — on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Close enough for me.
