Hey, there you are! Welcome back. Good to see you again. It’s been a while since there was any decent music on the tube. But finally, after a couple of weeks of vacation time, most of the late-night TV hosts have returned to their desks — and brought some decent musical acts with them. The best of Monday’s lot had to be old-school rapper Denzel Curry, who served up a double-shot of cuts from his recent album Zuu — the hard-hitting Ricky and the more laid-back Wish — on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (and is it just me, or is Fallon looking a little rough around the edges lately?). Meanwhile, over on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, X Ambassadors served up their power-ballady pop-rocker Hold You Down, which honestly failed to hold my attention for very long. Thankfully, the same cannot be said for musical comedian Catherine Cohen, who took us to the cabaret with her number Look at Me on Late Night With Seth Meyers. Chin up, lady. I’m sure you’ll own a car one day. Just like I’m sure sometime in the near future, all of the late-night shows will return with a full slate of new music.
