One thing I’ve learned from this site: You can never predict what’s going to be popular. Like my recent review of Rickie Lee Jones’ eclectic covers album Kicks. I didn’t think many people would be interested. But it turned out to be one of the most-read posts of the week. So it seemed like a good time to toss up this picture of an old RLJ poster I have in my collection. Near as I can tell, it was put out to promote her 1981 sophomore album Pirates. I don’t have any Rickie Lee stories to go with it — I’ve never seen her live or interviewed her — but I do think it’s a great shot of her; it looks more like a painting than a photograph. And the full-sized poster is in excellent shape. If you’d like to add it to your collection, email me. UPDATE: This poster has been sold.
