Sometimes it’s hard to believe the late-night TV music bookers aren’t in cahoots. Because seriously, what are the chances that two talk shows would coincidentally have Jamaican reggae artists on a Thursday night? Well, if you’re talking about The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and The Late Late Show With James Corden, they are 100%. The former had Protoje performing Like This, while the latter featured Shaggy’s rendition of You with Toronto popster Alexander Stewart. Not into the reggae, mon? Well, then you had to make do with James Taylor crooning Carolina In My Mind on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert (whose staff apparently think it’s Carolina ON My Mind), and indie-popster Morgxn’s twofer of Carry the Weight and Holy Water on Last Call With Carson Daly. Hey, it could be worse. Sweet Baby James could have been covering Exodus.
