From famine to feast. After a virtually dead night for music on Tuesday’s late-night talk shows, Wednesday dealt us a solid full house, with every show hosting at least one performance. And some killer performances to boot. Look no further than Irish post-punks Fontaines D.C., who made their U.S. TV debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with not one but two wiry, propulsive tunes: Boys in the Better Land and Liberty Belle. IMHO, they were the best act of the night. But they were certainly not the biggest. For the pop fans, P!nk showed up on Jimmy Kimmel Live — on the small indoor stage, no less — to present the bouncy Hustle, the opening track from her Hurts 2B Human album. All together now: Woop woop. For the dad-rock lovers, Hootie & the Blowfish kicked off their latest reunion tour by cranking out Hold My Hand on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. And for the grown-up Disney fans, Ashley Tisdale sang Voices in My Head on The Late Late Show With James Corden. But that’s not all! You also had Nashville outsiders Judah & The Lion showcasing their patented folk-hop and roll with their rendition of Over My Head on Late Night with Seth Meyers. And finally, Last Call With Carson Daly served up two more cuts — Promise Me and x Ana x — from L.A. modern-rock outfit Badflower’s recent El Rey show. Phew. And woop woop.
