It’s been a long time since I paid attention to the Polaris Prize. If you do, you may already know singer Jeremy Dutcher won this year’s award on Monday night for his musicological post-classical release Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa. He performed at the live gala, along with fellow nominees Jean-Michel Blais, Hubert Lenoir, Pierre Kwenders, Partner, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, U.S. Girls and Weaves (two others — Daniel Caesar and Alvvays — weren’t there, though the latter enlisted Girls Rock Camp participants to perform in their stead).
