Classic Album Review: Super Furry Animals | Songbook: Singles Vol. 1

This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

These Welsh cult heroes have spent the past decade producing delightful, daring Britpop that playfully partakes of everything from punk to psychedelia. If you don’t own any of their six albums, here’s your chance to get up to speed on their whimsical world.

FIRST RELEASED: 1996 – 2003.

HIGHLIGHTS: The druggie Something 4 The Weekend starts things off on a, well, high note, though the ’60s protest-rock of The Man Don’t Give a F—, the Beach Boys surf-pop of Rings Around The World and the hooky Do Or Die should not be overlooked.

EXTRAS! EXTRAS! A few of these cuts are non-album rarities, but since nobody’s heard most of them anyway, does that really count?
