This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
If seduction is both a skill and an art, legendary Montreal pianist Oscar Peterson is perhaps its ultimate musical practitioner, able to balance stunning technique, suave style and moving emotion.
TURN-ONS: 11 cuts focused on the late ’50s and early ’60s, with gorgeous versions of The Man I Love, Prelude To A Kiss, Over the Rainbow and a version of Nat King Cole’s Sweet Lorraine with a lightly dusty vocal from Peterson.
TURN-OFFS: At just 45 minutes, this disc barely sets the mood before it’s over. Next time, make it a double.
GOES WITH: Tuxedos, fine champagne, long-stemmed roses and expensive chocolate.
