This came out in 1999 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
Based on the band picture inside the CD booklet, these Vancouver rap-metalheads aren’t even out of school yet. Which only makes sense: Their debut CD Pullin’ Out the Jive suggests they still have a lot to learn.
So far, it seems they’ve gotten along by cribbing the best bits from the usual gang of alumni and upper classmen: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Korn, Limp Bizkit, yadda yadda yadda. To be fair, they’ve also done their own homework: All those barking vocals, shredding guitars and finger-popping, funky basslines show plenty of potential. But even though it’s all assuredly good enough to pass the test at the sock hop, Dredger need to show a little more of their own work if they want to ace the final exam.
