If you spent any time lurking around these parts this year, you probably came across a column or review by Area Resident. And you were undoubtedly as impressed as I am by the quality (and quantity) of his writing. The Ottawa musical polymath, record collector, music nerd and full-time journalist became Tinnitist’s first outside columnist back in January 2022, and quickly became an integral part of the site, thanks to his encyclopedic knowledge, deep shelves, great sense of humour and love for beloved old formats like quad and 8-track.
