Albums Of The Week: Blinker The Star | Occult Classic

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE:Blinker The Star‘s 13th album, Occult Classic is a short, taut album of shoegaze-tinged indie rock that continues Jordon Zadorozny’s trend of layering tracks alone at his rural Skylark Park Studio, with guest musicians adding sonic colour remotely.

Blinker The Star familiars John Fields, Bob Wilcox, Lexi Stern and Jarek Leskiewicz mark their return to the studio fold, with songwriting and production duties held by Zadorozny.

“As a kid, I used to pridefully imagine a shelf full of all my future albums, as yet unmade,” Zadorozny recalls. “As these albums pile up for real, I see them less as trophies and more as makers of time for me. Or perhaps, as my own futile protest against mortality.”

Swathed in a blanket of fuzzy, detuned guitars, leadoff track Love Is Gold sets the tone for what follows: A call to never surrender in the face of difficult odds, and a declaration that as long as there is love, there is a way forward.”
