Classic Album Review: Johnny Winter | Second Winter Legacy Edition

The Texas bluesman's three-sided LP fits nicely on a CD — along with some extras.

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Texas blues guitarist Johnny Winter’s searing sophomore set from 1969 was too long to fit on a single LP, so they released it as a double album with one blank side.

It all fis quite nicely on one CD nowadays, but it’s still full to bursting with Winter’s fiery fretwork — and covers of classics from Slippin’ And Slidin’ to Highway 61 Revisited.

EXTRAS: Along with two leftover studio cuts, there’s a second disc featuring a live recording from a smoking 1970 London concert.
