Nick Phoenix Shows You His Whole Wide World

The prolific L.A. conposer takes you on a stylish musical travelogue with his new LP.

Nick Phoenix sets off into the Wide World on his emotionally expansive and sonically rich new album — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

The followup to the L.A. singer-songwriter, prolific composer and novelist’s 2021 release King Of One, Wide World melds epic sounds with organic classic rock and incorporates elements drawn from the likes of Imagine Dragons, Coldplay, John Mayer, The Beatles and Pink Floyd. Full of lush pianos and strong melodies set against impeccably crafted tracks that range from roots-pop to psychedelic rock — all topped with Phoenix’s dusky vocals and personable lyrics — Whole World is a stylish musical travelogue that handily lives up to its name. To make the album, Phoenix worked with a wonderful group of musicians, including members of John Mayer’s band and Death Cab For Cutie (who perform with him live when they are available).

Phoenix is a London-born, American-raised composer of Scottish and Serbian descent. He is the co-founder of the production music company Two Steps From Hell with Thomas Bergersen. He has written music for a number of high-profile trailers, with over 1,200 noted scores and placements in total and over 100,000 TV placements.

Two Steps From Hell released the album Invincible in 2010. Several additional commercial album releases have followed, including Archangel and SkyWorld, each of which has hit the iTunes Soundtracks chart. Battlecry rose to No. 4 when it was released in 2015. In 2019, Two Steps From Hell released Dragon which peaked at No. 5 on iTunes and No. 1 on Googleplay.

Phoenix also performed in 2013 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall alongside Bergersen and will perform a nearly sold-out European tour in 2022. The 2014 release of his first published written work, Colin Frake on Fire Mountain, was accompanied by a Two Steps From Hell soundtrack. Colin Frake Asclepius was released in 2016, and Colin Frake Sumava is scheduled for 2022.
