Carsex Regret To Inform You That You’re Sitting Ducks

The Long Beach rockers offer a masterclass in malevolence, momentum & mayhem.

Carsex know we’re all a bunch of Sitting Ducks in a shooting gallery on their devastatingly heavy new single — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

A masterclass in malevolence, momentum and mayhem, the Long Beach underground rockers’ explosive and punishing new salvo blends furious guitar abuse, shape-shifting rhythms and lung-blistering vocals. The resulting concoction is an apocalyptic metal-punk Molotov cocktail of equal parts Black Flag and Danzig. Says singer Nigel Burke: “The song speaks to the helplessness and monotony of a modern world, and the meaninglessness that comes from what’s viewed as important by society.” Or, to put it another (and possibly more prophetic way):

“So what’s the difference in what happens
When we all run out of luck?
When all we really are is just sitting ducks
Resist? There will be no shelter.
Did you even exist?
A toxic simulation
We never asked for this!

“High time the flood will come up
Made of vinegar and piss
Isolate this tall assumption
You will remember this!
I wasn’t properly trained for this escapade
All the writing on the wall that reads nothing at all.”

Sitting Ducks was recorded at Maple Sound Studios in Santa Ana with producer Steve Evetts (Sepultura, Poison The Well, Dillinger Escape Plan) and mastered by Alan Douches at West Side Music.

Forged by the survivors of Orange County bands like Damned Age, Black Velvet Brigade and Red River Massacre, Carsex formed in 2018. Their sound combines the vintage L.A. punk attack of Circle JerksBlack Flag and Germs with echoes of Danzig, Fu Manchu and Queens Of The Stone Age, resulting in a potent, destructive concoction. They play hard and loud with no hint of an apology.

They have released two EPs: 2019’s CarSex and 2020’s 2020 EP, which featured the singles Your Generation and Lovesick. A new EP is slated for 2025. But at heart, Carsex are very much a live band. They’ve opened for Stillwell, The Obsessed, Mondo Generator, Suicide Silence, Unsane, Dead Poet’s Society, Narcoleptic Youth and O’Zorn!, among others.
