These unsung heroes of the British Invasion wrote grittier garage-rockers than The Roling Stones, penned the psychedelic rock opera that inspired Tommy, impressed David Bowie enough that he covered two of their songs on Pinups, and continue recording to this day — yet almost nobody knows who they are.
