Warburton put a new spin on home repair their sweet, cozy new single Time Of Your Life (The Renovation Song) — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
The latest release from the Australian-turned-Toronto indie artist Nathan Freeze-Mitchell and his band, the jangly track captures their blend of moody and melodic indie-folk, while Freeze-Mitchell’s dusky vocals and lyrics share a metaphorical tale of rebuilding, moving forward, finding common ground and appreciating what you have:
“We moved from a two-bedroom apartment
We were digging up carpet
Trying to expose the wooden floors
Remodel the kitchen, you said you were thinking
Maybe we should have spent a little more
But I think you look pretty good standing under that skylight
That we made in the living room.”
Warburton originated in early 2022 as a solo acoustic act. After the sad passing of his 200-pound St. Bernard, Freeze-Mitchell wanted to keep his memory alive and started a band in his name. Warburton’s debut single How To Be Happy was quietly released in late 2022. Shortly afterwards, he was told he sounded like the love child of Lord Huron and The National. If that’s not a compliment, nothing is.
Warburton embraced a full-band sound with new collaborators Mathieu Mcneil and Jonathan Joseph in 2023. Their music is mature and personal yet relatable. It’s indie, it’s folk, it’s rock. It’s everything you never knew you needed. It has warm guitars, a bit of twang, lyrics of love and loss, deep vocals and sweeping harmonies. Their music will grab you by the heartstrings and not let go. Warburton will take you on a journey through heartache and longing, all while paying homage to one very good boy.
