Jimmy & The Veil are tired of having their arm twisted by Aggressive Sales Tactics in their new single — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
Conveying discontent with professional corporate culture, the track highlights alternative and punk influences, with lyrics that express a more passionate and hard-hitting narrative. Jimmy & The Veil takes listeners through his struggles and personal experiences of dealing with the pressures of maintaining a polished exterior at the expense of genuine human connections.
Aggressive Sales Tactics opens up with a somber guitar intro, quickly building into high-energy electric guitar riffs, juxtaposing a punk rock attitude with corporate daily life. The chorus is escalated by his powerful vocals and intense lyrics that often prioritize superficial interactions over meaningful engagement.
“I believe we all require a genuine human connection that only happens when we stop being the ‘salesperson,’ ” says James Wright, aka Jimmy & The Veil. “In my professional life, I have spent so much time engrossed in optics and enslaved to presentation. I’m over it. I want to be real.”
This also relates to the complexities seen and felt through the social media illusion, and the performance put on to chase reactions and feel relevant. The track was produced by Will Beasley (Turnstile, Asking Alexandria) at The Bakery Recording Studios.
Wright’s musical journey began in high school as a lyricist and continued through college, where he honed his skills as a guitarist. Music has always been a cornerstone of his life, but it wasn’t until adulthood that he decided to pursue it fully. After playing in bands, he founded Jimmy & The Veil in the summer of 2023. Drawing inspiration from artists like Kurt Travis, Moxy the Band and Jimmy Eat World, his music often addresses themes of imposter syndrome and life’s challenges, offering a sense of solace and understanding.
