Classic Album Review: Einstürzende Neubauten | Kalte Sterne: Early Recordings

If there’s ever been an album that should come with earplugs, it’s this one.

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Fed up with your family? Feuding with the neighbours? Trying to break your lease? Just crank up this set of abrasive industrial-noise experiments from the ‘80s, barricade the door, sit back and let these German avant-gardians work their magic.

HITS: Who can forget 1980’s Loecher, with its inspired blend of metal spring, electric drill and wooden board? Not me, that’s for sure.

MISSES: If there’s ever been an album that should come with earplugs, it’s this one. And I mean that as a compliment.

EXTRAS: Some vintage pix and recording credits.
