Tinnitist TV | Episode 121: Mike Boguski of Blue Rodeo

The keyboard explorer on his new album, his day job, his love of ’70s rock & more.

Mike Boguski‘s new album is not his first rodeo. And certainly not his main one. That honour goes to Blue Rodeo, of course. Boguski has played piano and organ for the Canadian country-rock legends since 2008.

But if you’re expecting honky-tonk fare on his latest solo set Goodbye To Yesterday / Here’s To Tomorrow, you’re in for a surprise. Its half-dozen tracks find the restlessly creative musician wading into jazz, classic pop-rock, funk and more with the help of an all-star cast that includes members of Cowboy Junkies, his Blue Rodeo bandmates and others. Shortly before the album arrived and he headed back out on the road with the Rodeo, Boguski got on Zoom to talk about his day job, recording in his mom’s basement, his love of ’70s rock and much more. Enjoy.
