Chemical Mass are up in arms on their intense and propulsive new single Reach (For The Sun) — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
The Missouri alt-rockers’ aim to bring fans into a new era with their latest single. Taking inspiration from a plethora of artists — from the dark power of Black Sabbath and Nine Inch Nails to the socially charged lyrics of Pink Floyd and Rage Against The Machine — Reach (For The Sun) hits the ground running and doesn’t let up.
“I could cite a long list of musical influences for this song,” says frontman Steven Robert Walters. For me, it’s more of a collective of influences. It consists of the ideas and influences of everyone who has had a hand in the final product.” That includes drummer Lucas Schroer and bassist Brad Toebben, providing the track’s pulse-pounding backline for guitarists James Perkins and Tom Troesser, who deliver sweeping melodies and massive riffs to decorate Walters’ thought-provoking lyrical themes.
Reach (For the Sun) was recorded at North Village Studios in Columbia, MO, and East Iris UMG Studios in Nashville. It was co-produced by Malcolm Springer (Matchbox 20, Collective Soul, Fear Factory) and Jason Schrick (JPS Productions).
With a history dating back to 2014, Chemical Mass have achieved success in the mid-Missouri region they call home, thanks to acclaimed, crowd-pleasing tracks like Evolution and Secrets and Lies.
