Maybe it’s a coincidence. Maybe they’re all vacationing together. Or maybe it’s just too damn hot to wear all that black leather. Whatever the reason, it’s been a pretty light week for new metal submissions here in the Grindhouse, Thankfully, what they lack in number, they make up in volume. Dime it, baby:
The Human Tornado | Just Say Yes
THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “This powerful, energetic track embraces melody and romance, creating the perfect blend of love and suspense to capture the moments after a marriage proposal. Exhibiting their exceptional prowess to combine intense musical talent with heartfelt emotion, The Human Tornado deliver a song that connects with anyone facing the thrilling uncertainty of love’s biggest question. Like the previous single Your Darkness, this new song stands as a profound milestone for the band embodying the collective spirit of their musical journey reflecting an evolution in their sonic identity. It encapsulates the essence of The Human Tornado’s artistic progression.”
Dune | Sieve
THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Saudi thrash metal trailblazers Dune are back with a lyric video for the sonic onslaught Sieve, a formidable track from their debut EP Years Of Chains. Known for their genre-defying fusion and unrelenting energy, Dune’s latest offering is set to captivate metal enthusiasts worldwide. Sieve is a testament to the band’s evolution and their commitment to delivering a unique and powerful musical experience. “Years of Chains is an EP that we wrote years ago but didn’t get a chance to properly record due to multiple difficulties that came our way, after years we have chosen a list of the songs from the originals we have for the EP,” they say. “The recording process was fun yet we looked for perfection to make the songs as we imagined them with the best quality that we could make.” The track is the introduction to the EP and provides an eerie start to the chaos and aggression that follows. It showcases Dune’s signature blend of chainsaw-heavy guitars, chunky bass slaps, intricate drum techniques, and aggressive vocals.”
Spread Thin | Unjustified
THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Spread Thin are a Wisconsin hardcore quartet fusing power-violence, grind, and sludge into a hostile and indignant opus of aggression for those who like their music fast, loud, and without restraint. They will drop their debut full-length World Of Snakes on July 26, and are now sharing their third single Unjustified — an old-school, no-nonsense hardcore song that gets to the point. “We wanted an aggressive record with no filler,” they say. “We feel we achieved what we sought out to record, but this is the beginning of where we want to go from here. The single is about how life is short, we don’t need to make it worse for ourselves and everyone else. Don’t be a bitch. The rest of the album has a lot of surprises, and these three tracks prepare the listener for what they can expect.”
Ozora | Inedia
THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Ozora, one of the most innovative and acclaimed bands in the Italian music scene, are thrilled to announce the release of their third single Inedia, from their new album set to drop this autumn. “Inedia is a six-minute suite that expands the classic sound of the band towards new sonorities with progressive nuances, featuring energetic verses and a powerful melodic chorus,” they say. “The track reflects on the perceptual alternation of certain life moments; the highs and lows we face. At times, it feels like ‘We can no longer read anything in the eyes of others…,’ and this sense of endless tedium can either engulf us or awaken us.”
Maitreya | The Traveler
THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Progressive metal band Maitreya embody catharsis in musical expression, designed to explore the turbulent emotions of the human condition. The Traveler leads their forthcoming EP Auxesis, which will come out in October. The seed idea for the song can be traced back to a silly cover of RATM’s Bulls on Parade and it drifts between jazz-funk-reggae hybrid with metal. “The central theme of Auxesis is growth, and this single boldly demonstrates our new ‘branches’ while digging deeper into our root concept,” they say. “The Traveler showcases theatrical vocal narratives, groove-centric experimentation with genre-jumping, and heavy, drop-tuned breakdowns. Lyrically it is rooted in hurt and displacement. Dealing with feelings of betrayal and a breakdown of communication.” Auxesis is recommended for fans of Between The Buried and Me, The Contortionist, and Twelve Foot Ninja.”
Pythonic | Love H8
THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Pythonic, the powerhouse Saskatoon metal band, drop their new cut Love H8, the second single from their debut EP 1 due Sept. 27. Love H8 is a showcase of the more thrashy side of Pythonic and they deliver a barrage of tasty riffs: “This song originated from Vincent and is one of the only songs to showcase him playing leads. Part of what makes this song special is it had some producing help from longtime friend and drummer on the EP Jordan Gall. Jordan came up with the idea for the leads over the chorus riffs while in the studio with Vincent. Drummers got riffs too, who knew?” Love H8 came out exactly as Pythonic needed it to as a sick thrash song. The idea behind the track was to get people to move and it does just that when played live or just as a recording. The single is a song about how in relationships if one person isn’t healed properly they can project their problems onto the other.”
