Jussel speed back to the ’70s in their debut single and video Back In The Race — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
Life itself poses the question of endings and new beginnings, of stagnation and new beginnings. The debut single by the Viennese band is dedicated to precisely this topic. As Fabian Natter, Georg Pinter and Tobias Fussenegger lay down a driving groove straight out of an FM radio in 1978, Tobias Jussel sings about the joys making a new start, delivering his pertinent message with a mighty dose of old-school swag.
Formerly the frontman for Austrian rock band The Weight, singer and keyboardist Jussel realized in the spring of 2023 that it was time for a new musical project. After producing a few demos on his own over the summer, it became clear after an initial meeting with drummer Natter that the sound they were aiming for would be best realized in a band formation. With Pinter on bass and Fussenegger on guitar, a powerful quartet was quickly formed — and just as quickly began channelling the richly melodic pop-rock style of the late ’70s and early ’80s.
