Kyle Pacey surveys our troubled times with his new single and video Sad Days — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
A standout track from the Hamilton singer-songwriter’s latest EP Road Songs — and half of a double-sided single with the track Once Again — the disarmingly upbeat Sad Days acknowledges the hopelessness and fear spreading throughout the world. But the song also features a strong sense of togetherness, even if it is “the end for me and you” — because it’s something we all share and feel. And in that, hope can be born.
Once Again, the other side of the single, shines an even-brighter light in the darkness — while also focusing on the precious few moments we might all have left — in a bouncy and vibrant chorus, as Pacey invites everyone to seize the day while they can. Ultimately, both songs paint a striking portrait of a world in ruin that can still be saved.
It’s a sentiment captured clearly and expressed artfully on Road Songs. The EP offers a trip through the “sad days, mad days and bad days” we’re all experiencing. But Pacey’s unique, smooth blend of rock, pop and blues — propelled by driving riffs and accented with catchy, warm horns — can help you leave your troubles in the rearview. With infectious melodies and Kyle’s soulful voice planted firmly at the center, it’s easier to see what’s possible, and how much better things could be.
