Classic Album Review: George Clinton | Six Degrees of P-Funk

The funkmaster general collects cuts from a slew of sidekicks like Bootsy Collins.

This came out in 2003 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

THE ORIGINAL RELEASE DATES: 1979-1996.

THE BACK STORY: Like his predecessor James Brown, George Clinton’s Parliament-Funkadelic was a training ground and homebase for dozens of artists. Six Degrees of P-Funk highlights tracks from several graduates of Clinton’s funky academy.

THE GOODIES: A couple of classics from star-child bassist Bootsy Collins; a decent ’90s tunes from Clinton himself.

THE EXTRAS: Liner notes.
