Classic Album Review: Bob Log III | Log Bomb

The one-man Delta blues demon serves up 13 more slabs of greasy, gritty hoodoo.

This came out in 2003 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

IfI get reincarnated, I want to come back as Bob Log III. Who wouldn’t? It’s obvious this demented Delta blues demon is having way more fun than mere mortals are entitled to.

Armed with his trusty geetar, bass drum and effects pedals, clad in his customized motorcycle helmet and blue body suit, this one-man band is out to turn the global trailer park into a giant juke joint with his lewd, rude ’n’ crude psychohoodoogaragabilly fusion of AC/DC and Mississippi Fred McDowell. Log Bomb, his third postcard from the edge, serves up 13 more slabs of greasy, gritty junkshop blues chock full of monkey-paw slide, rubber-legged bass lines, floppy boot-stomp beats and gutbucket grooves — all topped by the Bobster’s Beefhearty growls and two-fisted tales of bubble strutting, room wiggling, drunk strippers, big butts and a potent little potable that goes by the enticing name of Boob Scotch. You know, the more I think about it, the more I suspect Bob Log might be God. Or vice versa. After all, if you were God, wouldn’t you wanna be Bob Log?
