Happy 73rd birthday to the one and only Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. The last time I saw them live, he played the same guitar for their entire 95-minute set — and even though I watched him like a hawk, I didn’t see him tune it even once between songs. Unless they were miming the entire gig (which I doubt), I have no idea how he pulled that off. Does he play through some sort of electronic auto-tuner? Is his axe so solid that it never goes out of whack? Does he have the lightest touch in rock ’n’ roll? Your guess is as good as mine.
