What’s your definition of the good old days? Mine would definitely include being able to go see John Lee Hooker at a local bar three nights in a row for $10 cover.
These particular gigs took place in the bar of The Ambassador Inn, a notorious Edmonton dive that also played host to plenty of local and touring punk and alternative bands back in the day. I can’t recall if the band I was in at the time ever played there, though I wouldn’t be surprised. Likewise, I can’t remember if I caught Hooker during this three-night stand, which would have taken place around ’83, several years before the legendary bluesman hit late-career paydirt with his star-studded album The Healer. But even though my memories are lost in the sands of time, this poster has survived in fine form. If you’d like to add it to your collection, EMAIL ME and I’ll be happy to sell it to you.
