Classic EP Review: Union Underground | Live: One Nation Underground

“Dude, what are we gonna do? It’s touring season and our new album isn’t finished!”

This came out in 2002 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Overheard in the studio where Texas aggro-metal band Union Underground are recording:

“Dude, what are we gonna do? It’s the summer touring season and our new album isn’t finished!” “Dude, just chill. We’ll just take some old live tapes, cobble them together and put out a live EP. That way, we can have some new product for the Ozzfesters to buy — and hip them to what a gnarly live band we are!” “Dude, awesome idea. But aren’t they going to realize that without the studio tricks, we’re just another cookie-cutter nu-metal band that says the F-word so much you’d think we own stock in it?” “Dude, it’s either that or we write some better songs — and fast!” “Dude, pass me those live tapes.”
