Mint June takes you into the underbelly of modern underground rave culture with his new conceptual EP Surrendering Nina — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
Out now, the EP finds the Los Angeles-based experimental electronic artist and producer further evolving his sound and liberating himself from conventional music through exploration of diverse genres such as downtempo, house, industrial techno, and experimental film score.
Explains Mint June: “Each track has its own vibe that I think is tailored to the overall ethos of the project, portraying the beauty and disorder of modern underground rave culture through the tale of Nina, a part-time bartender who finds herself overindulging in drug use when she meets a new friend named Paige.”
A passion project created by Jeremy Jung in 2019, Mint June expresses detachment from reality within an internet-influenced modern society. Initially pursuing the liberation from conventional music, Mint June has come to produce within genres such as downtempo, house, industrial techno, and experimental film score, as can be heard in his debut EP test 1.
