Genesis played their Last Domino in Toronto last night.
The reunited lineup of keyboardist Tony Banks, drummer/singer Phil Collins, and bassist/guitarist Mike Rutherford — accompanied by Daryl Stuermer on guitars and bass, and Collins’ son Nic on drums — played the first of two shows that will be the final Canadian concerts on their farewell tour. I was not there — but my Sonic Reducers co-host and lifelong Genesis freak Eric Alper most certainly was. It was his 24th Genesis concert, and presumably his final one. And that is certainly worth talking about today. Tune in to hear us recap the show, discuss other farewell tours we’ve seen over the decades, and debate whether or not it’s OK for a concert reviewer to point out that your favourite band probably should have hung it up a long time ago. Sonic Reducers. One topic. Two music nerds. Five minutes. Everything you need to know.
