The Toronto rockabilly queen’s latest throwback track, the irresistible and intoxicating Mr. Bartender serves up a 100-proof shot of vintage rock ’n’ roll, blended from solidly thumping tom-toms, a pumping barrelhouse piano and a wildly wailing saxophone — all topped with Miss Tammy Darling’s va-va-voom vocals and mischievous lyrics about a woman in search of a good stiff one.
With a love for old Hollywood glamour and a fascination with the past, Miss Tammy Darling‘s music is heavily influenced by the sounds of the ’50s and ’60s, incorporating elements of blues, pop, swing, rockabilly, and old-school rock ’n’ roll. She is known for her compelling stage presence as well as her expressive, dynamic, and versatile vocals. On stage, Miss Tammy Darling is joined by a four-piece band comprised of keys, upright bass, drums and saxophone.
Miss Tammy Darling’s show Rock the Bop highlights her favourite female artists of the past and has been presented at the Cadillac Lounge in Toronto, The Jazz Room in Waterloo, and the Cambridge Arts Theatre. She has been a guest soloist at the Bernice Adams Awards, as well as with The Lustre Kings and The Shook Boys. In 2019, Miss Tammy Darling was the host of the Toronto Vintage Prom, and released a unique cover of I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas, alongside a whimsical video directed by Kyle Kofsky.
Miss Tammy Darling was crowned Miss Jalopy Jam Up in 2018, and was featured in the November 2018 issue of Ol’ Skool Rodz. She can also be found in the August 2019 issue of Bombshell Magazine. In her free time, she loves to host cocktail socials and classic Hollywood movie nights, brush up on her swing dancing, and check out her favourite retro rock ’n’ roll bands.
