Silvertwins Of Funk | DTF (Down To Funk, Are You?)

THE EDITED BIO & PRESS RELEASE:Silvertwins are producer team Fredrik (Fronkpac) Jahn and Mattias (The Guitarman) Adolfsson from Gothenburg, Sweden. Fronkpac has been a funkateer of the GBG Funk Mob since the happy ’80s. Mattias Adolfsson, guitarist, singer and member of FunkMachines, could not resist to funk along and SilverTwins was born in 2017. Jenny Silver, the musical femme fatale, dazzled and grabbed all hearts and souls by just being. She is a musical femme fatale and sounds like a combination of Dua Lipa and Dawn Silva. DTF (Down to Funk, Are You?) is a groovy, sexy tune in the funk and disco tradition, but modern sounding. It’s shiny, glittering funk with a twist of boogie ’n’ disco.”

Jackie Moontan | Butter

HOME BASE: France.
GENRE: Pop.
THE EDITED BIO & PRESS RELEASE:Jackie Moontan is poetic and absurd. Jackie claims to be a moonman; his spaceship crashed somewhere in a Mississippi swamp and he’s been roaming that little blue planet ever since, writing songs about its blue inhabitants. Jackie flirts perpetually and dangerously with kitsch, epitomized by his love of satin shirts and the brightly colored suits he wears on stage at his Spectacular One Man Moon Man Karaoke Show — as he calls it. Whatever he does on stage, whether it’s dancing or falling down, he always seems to be saved by his love of self-deprecation. Jackie is a quiet observer and a fabulous crooner, tenderly telling the stories around him in his own colorful combination of pop, funk and soul. He was once asked in an interview which animal he felt closest to and he replied, “The chameleon. He’s never in a hurry, always makes good use of his tongue and looks like a fucking disco ball.” His new EP The Longest Sunday In History arrivees on Oct. 15.”

Their new single Tincture of Guilt is a purely acoustic alternative-folk tune consisting of an alternated tuning acoustic guitar, cello & violin — all in dialogue with tender melancholic vocals. The song is about dealing with self-inflicted distraught and discomfort whilst trying not to lose sight of life’s gift and essence. THE EDITED BIO & PRESS RELEASE: “Fresh off the release of her satirical pop banger LaLa, Josephine is ready to drop Better The High, an intense pop-rock tune that deals with one of her lower points, mentally, during the early, isolated months of the pandemic. As she was stuck at home, numerous thoughts permeated her mind. She would find ways to cope using marijuana as a way to help slow those never-ending anxious thoughts. “The song can come across quite aggressive, but mental health can be aggressive. Being stuck in your own mind can be a very intense experience and it can make you feel small and trapped,” she says. “It’s the teenage lock yourself in your bedroom and blast rock music and scream along until you feel better type of song.” Better The High is the latest single from her upcoming debut EP Permanent Ink.”

Luis Paul | City Night

HOME BASE: Germany.
GENRE: Neo-Classical.
THE EDITED BIO & PRESS RELEASE: “ Every person has his or her own story — and all too often they could just as easily come from a movie. The only thing missing is the music. Ludwig Paul Karsch aka Luis Paul wants to capture the moments, stories and associated feelings with his compositions and give them what they deserve in retrospect. With a lot of love, the studied music producer and composer creates touching sound worlds that would have felt just as comfortable in one or the other film genre and can be classified somewhere between well-known film scores by John Williams, Hans Zimmer and the soulful songs by Ludovico Einaudi or Yann Tiersen. He says: “City Night was written after I had gone for a walk on a rainy and late night in my Berlin neighbourhood. There wasn’t much going on anymore except for a few people waiting for the rain to stop with a drink in one bar or another. When you think about it, it’s just incredible how many different life stories and experiences take place in a single place. With this song I tried to capture the mood and feelings of that night.”

HOME BASE: Colombia.
GENRE: Latin.
THE EDITED BIO & PRESS RELEASE: “After La Muerte del Perro Negro, El Dragón Criollo was the only one who could take his place, but he didn’t. He said El Perro Negro was irreplaceable. Then he was lost for days, weeks and months. Everybody thought he was dead, but he was not dead; he was celebrating alongside El General, a ritual for leaving the past behind. They were going like muevelo muevelo, pum pum mami mami y no me trates de engañar. This period of absence of more than six months gave him the name of El Mata Culebras, given to him by a chola caderona in Panama City the day he rescued her from a cobra that wanted to kill her. He became known as one of the most incredible snake charmers in the Caribbean and the Pacific coast, dominating all cobras and other poisonous snakes and making them his disciples. Many people thought he had a pact with the devil, but after a few years, nobody was saying that anymore. Instead they were saying he was the devil himself, El Diablo.”

She was recently told that she has “a voice like a freight train,” a compliment she takes great pride in. The multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer offers up her second single, with roaring vocals and driving guitars. Extending the depth of her range, Down the Line doesn’t pull any punches. The lyrics explore the dangers in a world of social media, fake news and bad-faith arguments in the context of an ending relationship. Polarity Code | An Illusion

HOME BASE: United States.
GENRE: Classical Pop-Rock.
THE EDITED BIO & PRESS RELEASE: “As a first-generation American whose parents migrated from India to the U.S., Seattle songwriter Saral Navlakha has spent his entire life trying to find an authentic balance between two contrasting cultures. This dichotomy is at the core of Polarity Code — a project that explores themes about personal desires vs. societal norms, separation vs. connection, resignation vs. perseverance, and confusion vs. clarity. Like the themes he explores, Saral’s music is also rooted in contrast, incorporating elements from diverse genres such as classical, electronic, and rock. This blend of styles bonds to create an original identity that is unique from its underlying parts. The result is a type of music that is powerful and energetic while simultaneously deep and introspective. Inspired by the structure of Radiohead’s Paranoid Android and Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, Polarity Code’s debut single An Illusion is a three-act narrative that takes the listener on an emotional journey filled with sweeping strings, melancholic piano, cacophonous noise, and a groovy dance beat.”

Jaimy Jay | Voyager, Pt. 6: City Lights

HOME BASE: Belgium.
GENRE: Electronica.
THE EDITED BIO & PRESS RELEASE: “I’m Jaimy Jay, Belgian artist and producer. I’m 31 years old. I’ve been making music for 10 years through collaboration with different artists. In 2019, I released my first EP Contemplation of Memories, which contained creations produced between 2012 and 2019. During the confinement of 2020 when I had just learned that I would be a dad, I started to compose instrumental pieces very different from what I usually did and influenced by artists I listened to as a teenager: Giorgio Moroder, Daft Punk, Joachim Garraud, Jean-Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk and Muse. After relatives told me that the songs made them travel, I decided to call my album Voyager — each song is declined in a specific trip. Voyager, Pt. 6: City Lights is a reference to the city of Paris and also to Daft Punk.”

Marc Bangs | Drag Me Back To Hell

HOME BASE: Australia.
GENRE: Garage-Pop.
THE EDITED BIO & PRESS RELEASE: “It took a pandemic and its load of frustration, sadness and disconnection, for Australia-born, British-raised singer-songwriter Marc Bangs to get over the writing block that had been controlling him for years. “My nan passed away during the lockdown, and I wanted her to stay one more night, so we could go back to England and say goodbye. It unfortunately never happened. But I wrote my very first song instead, One More Night, which I haven’t released yet.” Bangs hasn’t stopped since, finding in songwriting the cathartic solace he’s always looked for. He has a melody and a style that are unmistakably British and decadently pop. Drag Me Back To Hell is a breakup song. Or a love song. Or most likely both. “Every side has two stories, especially in a breakup,” explains Bangs. “This was my side, and the key thing to take from the chorus is that we are both at fault.” Written within an hour in Bangs’ bedroom, after a week of bingeing on Kate Bush’s iconic Wuthering Heights, Drag Me Back To Hell has all the elements of a true Brit-pop classic: the impeccably addictive melody, finely crafted words, and the feelings, honest, real and complex.”

Clide | Come Over

HOME BASE: Germany.
GENRE: Pop.
THE EDITED BIO & PRESS RELEASE:Clide grew up in a flat in Berlin. His parents worked as classical musicians, so it’s no surprise that he learned to play piano at an early age. At 16 he started off fiddling around with a computer, a microphone and a piano, and hasn’t stopped since. Lo-fi pop is a big source of inspiration. Although still pretty young, he knows exactly what adjectives he wants his music to be associated with: Authentic, innovative and raw. He wants to talk about things that move him and are close to his heart. Of course, love is one of those things but so are questions around his own identity, the search for truth, dreams and interpersonal relationships. He says: “I remember writing Come Over in my bedroom almost two years ago, sitting there and thinking about that girl I used to see, that sadly wasn’t part of my life anymore. To me it’s just a song that’s really honest and pure, trying to say out loud what my feelings and the thoughts running through my head were telling me. I think I like the song so much, because it is so honest and real and I hope others can hear and feel that too.”
