Sonic Reducers | A Tour That Sparks Joy

The Mael brothers are hitting the road. We have something to say about that.

I have been going to concerts for nearly 50 years. I’ve seen thousands of bands. Reviewed hundreds of shows — including a few historic, unforgettable gigs. Despite all that, I wouldn’t say I’m jaded — but I do admit it takes something special to get me excited these days.

Sparks’ upcoming tour definitely does the trick. They’re one of the few great bands I still haven’t seen — so I’ll be there when they hit Toronto on their tour next year. And so will my Sonic Reducers partner Eric Alper, who also happens to be a Sparks neophyte. I have a a little over eight months to turn him into a fan. And since there’s no time like the present, I’ll start with today’s segment. Join us as we talk about the Mael brothers’ first North American trek in five years, guide you to their greatest albums and explain why they’re your favourite band’s favourite band. Sonic Reducers: One topic. Two music nerds. Five minutes. Everything you need to know.
