Comfort food is swell. But every now and then you need to try something new. And as always, the Late-Night TV Music world is happy to oblige. Monday’s musical menu offered a virtual buffet (hey, remember those?), full of freshly caught sonic specials to expand your musical palate.
Start with the catch of the day: The satisfyingly eclectic, lightly savoury indie-rock of Bartees Strange, who served up his recent platter Boomer on Late Night With Seth Meyers. Not quite to your taste? No problem. You might prefer the easily digestible FM-rock crunch of British singer-songwriter Jade Bird, who gave us a Headstart on her upcoming album with a live-in-the-studio performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In the mood for something a little poppier? Consider SLC duo I Don’t Know How But They Found Me, expanding their ranks to present their Spoon-fed Leave Me Alone on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Hope you saved room for dessert — though honestly, the lightly sweet confections of Austin singer-guitarist Dayglow’s Fuzzybrain taste great without being filling, as you can see from his late-night TV debut on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Now, would anyone care for coffee, or can I just bring you the bill?
