Alicia Keys takes programming to a new stage with her drive-in concert.

Honestly, I can take or leave Alicia Keys. Her music just ain’t my thing. But I have to give her and The Late Late Show With James Corden credit for taking late-night TV music to a new stage (literally and figuratively) with the drive-in concert series they kicked off on Monday night. Keys’ performance of Love Looks Better is the first of a string of appearances this week ā€” but more importantly, I suspect this scenario will soon become the norm (at least among talk shows with access to parking lots). And if this is the only way we can watch bands play live to people on TV again, I’ll take it. At the very least, it was far more interesting than watching Polo G and his crew play Martin & Gina on a sterile sound stage for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Compare the two and see what I’m talking about. Ball’s in your court, Jimmy Kimmel.
