Late-Night TV Music (Mellow Edition) | Jan. 28, 2020

No need to get excited about these songs from Rapsody, Uncle Charlie & BTS.

Between the Grammy Awards and the Juno nominations, it’s been a busy couple of days here in the Tinnitist bunker. So I feel like taking it a little easy today. And as so often happens, the late-night TV music gods seem to have my back. Tuesday’s tunes were were definitely working the mellow side of the street. On this corner: The groovy hip-hop soul of Rapsody and PJ Morton’s Afeni, a tribute to Tupac Shakur’s mother and other “strong black women” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. On that corner: The R&B romance of Uncle Charlie Wilson’s Forever Valentine on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Hell, even the normally hyperactive BTS kept it down (and kept it barefoot; is that some sort of teen thing now?) during their debut performance of Black Swan on The Late Late Show With James Corden. Here’s hoping the rest of the day is just as laid back.
