No surprise: There’s plenty of Christmas music on the late-night TV scene this week. Big surprise: It’s not the only game in town. Look no further than The Late Late Show, where Chance The Rapper filled in for James Corden on Monday — and performed Roo with his brother Taylor Bennett for the first time together on TV. Or Late Night with Seth Meyers, where Grammy-nominated country singer Tyler Childers sang his number Country Squire. Of course, you can only avoid the seasonal fare for so long. But at least Monday’s offerings weren’t all bad: Idina Menzel went old-school on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert with her number Christmas Just Ain’t Christmas. Finally, for those who prefer their seasonal songs with more treacle, Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff obliged with their version of I’ll Be Home for Christmas on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. So really, it could have been worse. And probably will be before the week is done.
