You have to give The Late Late Show points for trying. Instead of just airing reruns while host James Corden is off, they’ve recruited guest hosts. The first was Alicia Keys, who not only chatted with teenage phenom Billie Eilish on Monday night, but also turned her desk into a piano so they could sing a duet on Ocean Eyes. A nifty idea, for sure. But was it a historic TV moment? Well, probably not. In fact, for my money, it wasn’t as entertaining as blue-eyed soul man Allen Stone heading into the crowd during his performance of Brown Eyed Lover on Jimmy Kimmel Live. But it was more memorable than Summer Walker’s generic number Playing Games on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. So I guess it could have been worse.
