Late-Night TV Music (Backtracking Edition) | Oct. 30, 2019

Get up to speed with Twigs & Miranda, plus recent clips from Caamp & Mallrat.

If you thought things have been a little quiet around here for the past few days, you’re right. I’ve been away for a week visiting family. I’m back now — and so ridiculously far behind in my work that I don’t think I’ll ever get caught up. Good thing the late-night talk shows have been helpful by limiting the musical performances this week. Wednesday brought just two very different female artists: The magnificent FKA Twigs, who capped the wistful piano ballad Cellophane with some balletic pole dancing during her spot on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon; and the dependable Miranda Lambert, who trotted out her latest red-state white-trash anthem It All Comes Out in the Wash on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Jimmy Kimmel Live didn’t have a musical act on Wednesday (or at least haven’t posted anything), so here’s Tuesday’s appearance by Ohio alt-roots outfit Caamp, who played By and By and Peach Fuzz. Finally, The Late Late Show With James Corden was also quiet on Wednesday, but Australian electro-popster Mallrat’s Tuesday night rendition of Charlie is worth your time. There, now you’re all caught up. Unlike me.
