Late-Night TV Music (Ramping Up Edition) | Sept. 4, 2019

Pixies, Raconteurs, Keane, Maren Morris and Shaed make for an eventful Wednesday.

It always takes me a couple of days to get back up to speed after Labour Day. The talk shows are apparently the same. After easing into the work week on Tuesday, the late-nighters ramped up with their first full slate of musical performances on Wednesday. At the top of the list: Pixies, unveiling the typically idiosyncratic Catfish Kate from their Sept. 13 album Beneath the Eyrie on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Behind them came a line of artists hawking tunes from their latest albums: The Raconteurs played the moody Only Child (from Help Us Stranger) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon; country-popster Maren Morris offered up The Bones (from Girl) on Late Night with Seth Meyers; and Keane trotted out Love Too Much (from Cause and Effect) for The Late Late Show With James Corden. Finally, on the indie side of the street, D.C. electropop trio Shaed doubled down with their breakthrough 2018 single Trampoline and the followup Thunder on Jimmy Kimmel Live. All in all, not bad for the first Wednesday in September. Stay tuned to see what Thursday night brings.
