A little bit country. A little bit rock ’n’ roll. It was good enough for Donny & Marie. It was good enough for Wednesday’s late-night TV bookers. And it’s good enough for you. Start with the rock part — with a side dish of hip-hop — courtesy of unhinged California vocalist Hobo Johnson, who shared his decidedly atypical Typical Story on Late Night with Seth Meyers. Then flip over to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for some country — more specifically, a shot of old-school honky-tonk from Texas twangers Midland and their single Mr. Lonely. Finally, split the diff — and water it all down — with country-pop balladeers Rascall Flatts, who treated Jimmy Kimmel Live’s audience to two songs: Back To Live and I Like The Sound Of That. Can’t say I agree with that last sentiment, but hey, I don’t make the videos. I just share ’em.
