Chris Robinson Brotherhood | Servants of the Sun

The California hippie-rock jammers share another batch of Deadhead trips.

WHO ARE THEY? The psychedelic California hippie-rock jammers led by the former (and possibly future) Black Crowes frontman and former (but unlikely to be future) husband of Kate Hudson.

WHAT IS THIS? Their fifth full-length batch of Grateful Dead-style workouts and shape-shifting musical excursions.

WHAT DOES IT SOUND LIKE? A tie-dyed T-shirt, jean shorts and a pair of Birkenstocks come to life.

WHAT WOULD BE A BETTER TITLE FOR THIS ALBUM? A Serving of Orange Sunshine.

HOW SHOULD I LISTEN TO IT? Ideally, while dancing barefoot in a field at an outdoor festival at sunrise.

WHAT 10 WORDS DESCRIBE IT? Freewheeling, trippy, sunny, breezy, funky, earthy, sincere, organic, vibrant, mellow.

WHAT ARE THE BEST SONGS? Let It Fall and Rare Birds kick up some decent dust.

WHAT WILL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY SAY? ‘Where are the Doritos?’

HOW OFTEN WILL I LISTEN TO THIS? It’s a great summertime album, so it could easily get some rotation over the next few months.

IF THIS ALBUM WERE FOOD, WHAT KIND OF FOOD WOULD IT BE? A hemp granola bar — or more likely a hash brownie.

SHOULD I BUY, STREAM OR STEAL? Depends on how much you’re into the whole materialism thing, man.
