Late-Night TV Music (Gut-Check Edition) | April 3, 2019

Buddy, T. Hardy Morris, Buddy, Strumbellas and more take over the tube.

Some days, it’s hard to decide which clip to put at the top of this post. Should it be the biggest artist? The newest song? The most colourful performance? Ultimately, you just have to go with your gut. And today, my gut chooses L.A. rapper Buddy’s performance of Trouble On Central on The Late Late Show With James Corden. Sure, it’s been out for a while. He’s even performed it on TV before. But hey, you gotta give it up for any song that pays homage to Skee-Lo’s 1995 classic I Wish. Another worthy offering from Wednesday’s late-night musical lineup: Former Dead Confederates member T. Hardy Morris, playing the gothic country-rockers Be and the The Night Everything Changed on Last Call With Carson Daly. For my money, these guys were better than bigger names like Kelly Clarkson, pimping for a new cartoon with the dance-pop single Broken & Beautiful on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon; singer-songwriter Kevin Garrett dishing up the piano ballad It Don’t Bother Me at All on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert; and Toronto’s Strumbellas presenting their rousing Salvation on Late Night With Seth Meyers. Check them out below and let your gut decide which you like best.
