Every now and then, you have to call an audible. Today is just one of those times. Monday’s late-night music offerings were … well, let’s just say they were a tad disappointing. I’d like to say it was a complex April Fool’s joke, but the sad truth is I’m pretty sure they all meant it. So I’m bending the rules a little just for today and offering up something more interesting: Two recent performances by weird pop-star-of-the-moment Billie Eilish. Enjoy her creepy rendition of Bury a Friend from Friday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live. Then wade into her performance of When the Party’s Over on Monday’s Ellen DeGeneres Show. Of course, if you feel the need to be thorough, by all means partake of Monday night’s actual entries. Enjoy The Zombies warbling Time of the Season for Jimmy Fallon; savour Rita Wilson narcotizing The Late Late Show with James Corden audience with the California country-pop of Throw Me a Party; and get down to three songs — yes, three — from indie-funk outfit HalfNoise (a.k.a. former Paramore drummer Zac Farro) on Last Call With Carson Daly. But don’t say I didn’t warn you.
