Late-Night TV Music (Early Halloween Edition) | Oct. 30, 2018

KISS, Christine & The Queens, Willie Nelson and others present treats and tricks.

Have you noticed that Halloween starts earlier and earlier every year? Way back when I was a tiny Tinnitist, we didn’t go out trick-or-treating until after dinner, when it was dark. Now the kids — accompanied by their parents, of course — start coming around right after school lets out. Where’s the fun in that? Anyway, point is they’re not alone in getting an early start on the festivities. The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon also began celebrating on Tuesday night by enlisting KISS to play (or pretend, judging by Paul’s amazing ability to produce guitar chords without touching the strings) Love Gun — when they weren’t tossing picks or hyping their latest yeah-right farewell tour. Other treats of the night: Willie Nelson and his band (including his sons) bouncing from Sinatra‘s Fly Me to the Moon to his rabble-rousing election ditty Vote ’Em Out on Jimmy Kimmel Live; Christine and The Queens turning in another intriguingly choreographed performance with her live rendition of Comme Si on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert; and her fellow Francophone electro-popster Jain getting down with Alright and Makeba for Last Call With Carson Daly. How do you like them Halloween apples?
