Blame the Emmys. Or thank them. Since this year’s awards were on Monday instead of Sunday, it took all the talk-show hosts out of commission for the evening — which meant no late-night music performances. Well, almost. Fallon got snubbed in the nominations, so he still had to work. And how did he capitalize on this virtual monopoly? By bringing out Lenny Kravitz to perform the slinky disco-funk cut Low from his new Raise Vibration disc. Well, better than nothing, I guess. Thankfully, things are looking up on Tuesday night, with Tony Bennett and Diana Krall, John Mayer, Tom Odell, Phoebe Bridgers and Madison Beer all on tap (see what I did there?). And just to pad this out, here’s a clip from Tuesday afternoon’s Ellen Show, where Meghan Trainor joined Jason Mraz on his sighingly romantic pop ditty More Than Friends. Though why anyone would want to be more than friends with a guy who dresses like an eight-year-old is beyond me.
