Webpage 505 program a virtual pathway to true happiness in their endearing new electronic indie-pop EP Navigator — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
The debut EP from the internet-based musical collective is a playful, genre-bending concept piece that invites listeners into the intricacies and intimacies of the queer Internet — aided and abetted on your journey by a virtual assistant / digital companion named CeeCee. These sweetly sincere and seductive creations explore themes of self-discovery and romantic awakening, isolation and infatuation, regret and loss, and more — all set against a soothing backdrop of gently percolating beats, twinkling synthesizers, revealing lyrics and hushed vocals. Navigator’s five gorgeous little gems may not deliver true romantic love — but they’ll do nicely until the real thing comes along.
Altough it has the consistency, coherence and cohesion of a work painstakingly written and recorded by a single artist alone in their bedroom, the impressive and immersive EP is actually the culmination of a years-long collaboration between multiple artists — Ambynt, Aloeveria, -Alow, Catstem and Stanza Lune — trading digital packets back and forth across the internet from 2021-2025. Where one begins and the other ends is impossible to discern, as the parts seamlessly and flawlessly merge into a whole greater than the sum of its components.
Webpage 505 truly began in the compilations of Goop House, a charity organization, with the recording of 2021’s Bubblegum, a sugar-sweet debut that highlighted each member’s strengths. Later that year, Ambynt hosted 505Fest, a livestreamed online festival with performances from Self Discovery, Terratype, Gardial, grey.png, outercosm, breaking, x-girl, shwirl and all Webpage 505 members.
The following year, Blue Light — a poppy, pensive track about being queer online — was featured on Goop House’s seventh compilation album. 2023 brought about Snow/Melt, the group’s first independent track, a genre-bending winter love song featuring cover art by Memorisleep. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, a larger release began to fall into place, reflecting the group’s artistic journey across nearly half a decade.
Rerecording and remastering their older material, Webpage 505 have finally finalized their first full-length project Navigator, teaming up with visual artist Dwotadog. The release marks the end of an important chapter in each member’s careers, with promising futures ahead.
