This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
If Zeke were a Swedish grindcore band, they’d be Nasum. At least, they’d want to be.
Frankly, I’m not sure that even the speed-demon scuzzwags of Zeke could navigate the feverish hairpin turns, breakneck pace, screaming arpeggios and napalm vocals on display on Shift, Nasum’s fourth round of sonic brutality. Similarly, I would advise Swedish metal newbies, the squeamish and those with weak hearts to proceed slowly and cautiously. With 24 atomic blasts of crushing punishment crammed into just 37 relentless minutes, Shift is the audio equivalent of a particularly brutal curbstomping. All you can do is protect yourself and wait it out.
